The League of Scientists book series

“The Ghost in the Water” status = “kinda” done

It’s done.

Well, actually, let me amend that: It’s kinda done.

What I’ve accomplished is a completed first draft of the book. The story is complete. All chapters have been written. The story is (mostly) coherent, the characters (mostly) well-developed, and words (mostly) spelled correctly.

I know you’re saying, “That’s nice, Andy, but give me the book.” Hey, come on now – this is a big step!

Now comes the fine-tuning. That means there are changes to detail, characterization, internal consistency, and the various tweaks and nudges that will give us a completed work presentable in your local bookstore. The short name for all this is “second draft”.

Since this is my first time working with Science, Naturally!, I don’t know how long a second draft will take. Part of the delay is on me, of course, but my editor also needs time to pour over the text and work with me to make it as good as we can make it. As a ballpark, I’ll say “a few weeks”. After that, I should have more progress to report.

We’re getting close. If this book was in a tunnel (and had eyes), it would definitely see a light at the end.
