“The Ghost in the Water” cover art status = “also kinda” done

Just like my last post about the text of “The Ghost in the Water”, I’m happy to announce that the cover art is also kinda done. That is, it looks good to me, and has been submitted to the publisher for final approval.

If they approve it, the artist and I will take the painting to a local studio, and have them digitize it. The original painting itself is 20-or-so inches wide by 30-and-then-some inches long, so you can’t just slap it on a scanner! Also, the painting is an oil painting, so you have to take more care with the lighting – bright lights (like camera flashes) will tend to glare and mess up your final product.

If the publisher doesn’t approve it, we’ll tweak it until they do!

I want to show it to you, but can’t just yet – I first want to give the publisher a chance to accept/reject it, and to find if I’m allowed to post it before the book itself is available. As soon as I can, though, I’ll post a copy .

Kudos to artist Celia Kaiser for working extremely hard to get the art not only done, but done in a way that looks really good.

Yup, I have seen the painting up close and person and agree it looks pretty darn good.  Excellent job, Cec!
